About
The Social Justice Café for Girls (SJC4G) is a prevention program dedicated to serving girls in the areas of social justice, wellness, international affairs, and girl empowerment. Since its inception in 2016, the program has touched the lives of over 500 girls through mentoring, social justice cafés, wellness and empowerment seminars, international travel, and advocacy services. Most of our girls reside in some of Atlanta’s most economically challenged urban corridors and are survivors of trauma, specifically sex trafficking and community-based trauma. However, our program also serves girls who have not experienced trauma yet have been faced with many of the challenges that most girls experience such as bullying, communication difficulties, and navigating “teening".

The program provides girls with a consistent safe space to address issues that impact their lives such as bullying, inequality, education, relationships, and even fun issues such as hair as a social justice movement! Girls engage in four cafes: Café Med introduces girls to medical professions underrepresented by women in partnership with local dentists and physicians; Café Justice teaches girls how to become young yet powerful advocates in the area of social justice while developing meaningful relationships with pioneering social justice women and engaging in Social Impact Projects domestically and internationally; Café International teaches girls how to become global-minded social justice girls while impacting international communities through service and education, develop international relations with other girls, and gain exposure through travel; and Café Girl allows girls to celebrate all things girl! We believe that the Café decreases many of the negative influences and vulnerabilities that would otherwise increase their chances of experiencing additional traumas, disrupted relationships, and dropping out of school. In addition, all programming is at no cost to the youth.

Since August 2016, our social justice girls have completed a cumulative total of over 5,058 hours of community service, as well as two social impact trips to San Pedro, Guatemala. Past projects included developing a commercial sexual exploitation of children simulation at The Center for Civil and Human Rights where over 1,000 visitors attended, packaging food for children who reside in food deserts, hosting wellness classes for youth led by our 12-year old certified yogi, serving elders through engagement activities, and much more.

We understand that many people have given up on the girls we aim to serve and empower. However, The Social Justice Café for Girls is changing the narrative for Atlanta’s girls. We believe that our girls will be our next global-minded leaders. Therefore, the Social Justice Café for Girls is committed to empowering girls and making a difference in their lives now.
We believe all girls can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
Our Mission
The Social Justice Cafe for Girls' mission to provide a safe space (Cafe) to address issues that impact girls, bridge the gap and develop relationships with pioneering social justice women, develop and implement social impact agendas, and impact girls and women domestically and internationally, through dialogue and service as globally-minded Social Justice Girls.
Our Goal
The goal is to dismantle the fear instilled in girls because of inequality, colorism, and sexism through social justice mentorship and redefining global-mindedness for girls of color. By 2021, we will open the Social Justice School for Girls.
